MCC WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SIGNS THREE OF ARIZONA’S TOP DISTANCE RUNNERS

Fresh off back-to-back NJCAA National Championships, the Mesa Community College women's cross country program has strengthened its future by signing three of the top prep runners in Arizona: Isabella Bravo (Rio Rico), Rachel Barney (Veritas Prep), and Brooke Rasmussen (Dobson).

The trio arrives following standout high school careers that saw each athlete compete among the state's best at the AIA Cross Country Championships while posting elite 5K times.

Bravo (Division III) and Barney (Division IV) each placed seventh in their respective state championship races, clocking impressive 5K marks of 18:51 and 19:27. Rasmussen competed in the highly competitive Division I championship, finishing 20th overall while recording a personal best of 19:22 for 5K.

"We are very excited to have signed Isabella, Rachel, and Brooke," said head coach Daniel Pescador "They have had extremely successful high school careers and have the ability to come in and contribute to our program at the national level. All three are tremendously talented competitors, but just as importantly, outstanding students who will represent Mesa the right way."

The additions provide immediate depth to a Thunderbird squad that has established itself as one of the premier programs in the NJCAA and the state of Arizona. With a foundation built on championship culture and national-level performance, the incoming class is expected to play a key role in sustaining Mesa's dominance on the national stage.

By bringing in three proven performers from across multiple divisions, MCC continues to reinforce its pipeline of elite distance talent as the program pursues a third consecutive national title.
