BAKER CLAIMS ACCAC AND REGION I INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mesa standout Olivia Baker continued her dominant freshman campaign Friday morning, capturing both the ACCAC and NJCAA Region I Division II Individual Championships at Crossroads Park.

Baker crossed the line in 18:23.8, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the next finisher, to secure her first Region I individual title and help lead the No. 1-ranked Thunderbirds to the team championship as well.

Her performance capped off a remarkable regular season that included multiple meet victories, a school-record 6k time, and several conference and national weekly honors.

Baker and the Thunderbirds will now shift their focus to the NJCAA Division II National Championships in November, where Mesa looks to repeat as national champions.
