No. 13 ranked MCC Volleyball team fell to Arizona Western College, 3–0 Wednesday night in Yuma.
The Thunderbirds struggled to find their rhythm early, falling behind quickly in the first two sets. The Matadors took control and won the opening frames 25–17 and 25–15, putting Mesa in a 2–0 hole.
In the third set, MCC responded with its best stretch of the night, building a seven-point advantage midway through. However, Arizona Western rallied down the stretch, erasing the deficit and closing out the match with a 25–21 win to secure the sweep.
Mesa (1–1, 0–0 ACCAC) will look to bounce back on Friday when they return home to Theo Heap Gymnasium to take on Benedictine University – JV.
