TUCKER WINS NATIONAL TITLE IN WEIGHT THROW, SETS NEW SCHOOL RECORD

Mesa Community College's Track & Field thrower Maleah Tucker delivered a historic performance at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning the national title in the women's weight throw while breaking her own school record.

Competing at Washburn University, Tucker secured the national championship with a throw of 18.49 meters, establishing a new Mesa program record. The mark surpassed the 18.18 meters she set earlier this season, which itself had broken the previous school record of 18.10 meters set by Michelle Amete in 2005.

The championship performance capped a remarkable indoor season for Tucker, who consistently ranked among the top throwers in the NJCAA and delivered multiple record-breaking performances throughout the year.

Tucker's dominant season earned her NJCAA West Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year honors. She was also named ACCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week multiple times during the indoor season and received NJCAA Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Week recognition following one of her standout performances.

Her national title highlights a season in which she repeatedly rewrote the Mesa record books and established herself as one of the premier field athletes in the NJCAA.

With a national championship, multiple school records and numerous conference and national honors, Tucker's indoor campaign stands as one of the most accomplished seasons by a Thunderbird field athlete in program history.
