Jacobson and Atwood take home first place at Mesa Outdoor Mults

Sara Jacobson and Zion Atwood both took home first place at the Mesa Outdoor Multis on Friday.

Jacobson took home the crown in the Heptathlon as she nearly broke the 5,000 point mark scoring 4,997. Jacobson scored 739 points more than the second place finisher. Jacobson set new personal best marks in the 100m Hurdles, 200m, and tied a best in the High Jump. Jacobson dominated the field as she took first in all events except for one. 

Zion Atwood took home the Decathlon title as he scored 4,771 points; 659 points more than the runner-up. Atwood set personal best marks in the 400m, Discus, and the Javelin Throw. 

Atwood trailed Pima's Malachi Keller by 517 points going into day two of the competition, but with strong showings in the 110m Hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, and 1500m Atwood was able to overtake his competition and secure the victory.
