Mesa, AZ - Annabella Bara sent the T-Bird faithful home happy as she connected on the golden goal in the final minute of double-overtime to beat the Paradise Valley Pumas, 3-2.
Bara not only scored Mesa's final goal of the night but netted the first goal for the Birds in the first half in the 14th minute. That goal tied the match up at one. The Pumas however took a 2-1 advantage into the halftime break.
A penalty kick by Mesa's Kyla Galdos in the second half tied the match at two with about 22 minutes to play in regulation. That tied held up until the final minute of the second overtime when Bara netted her 15th goal of the season, a game winner that sent the Mesa bench into a frenzy.
It was a crucial victory for the women's team as they stay steady in the sixth playoff position heading into the final week of the regular season. Mesa will play one final regular season match at Chandler-Gilbert on Wednesday at 4:30. Final seedings for the 2019 ACCAC playoffs won't be finalized till the end of next week.
