Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's soccer team pushed its record to 2-0 on the young season with a victory over the Gateway Geckos Tuesday night at John D. Riggs Stadium.

The 1-0 win is not only the second win of the season for Mesa but their second shutout.  Making six saves against Glenale on Saturday night, Lizbeth Medina clogged up the goal by collecting seven more saves tonight against the Geckos.

Scoring the lone goal on the night for Mesa was Megan Belles, her second of the season, which came in the 26th minute on a beautiful chip over the Gateway goalkeeper.

With the win, Mesa will take the rest of the week off and then head to Phoenix College next Tuesday night at 7 pm.
