Bio
Mesa native and MCC alumnus John Guerrero has been at the helm of the women’s golf program at Mesa Community College since 2001 and took over leadership of the men’s team in 2005. With more than two decades of experience guiding both programs, Guerrero has built a reputation for developing talent and maintaining a high level of competitive excellence within the ACCAC.
A graduate of Westwood High School, Guerrero was the No. 1 player on the Warriors’ golf team during his junior and senior years before competing for two seasons at Mesa Community College. In 1993, he founded the Madison Golf Academy in Phoenix, an enrichment program for elementary students that he directed for seven summers.
After turning professional in 1996, Guerrero joined the staff at Riverview Golf Course in Mesa. Since 1999, he has been a teaching instructor at Dobson Ranch Golf Course, where he continues to mentor players at all levels.
A member of the National Golf Coaches Association, Guerrero has received significant recognition for his coaching success. He has been named ACCAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year for four consecutive seasons, a reflection of his consistent ability to lead one of the top women’s golf programs in the country.
Guerrero is known for his player-focused approach, placing a strong emphasis on teaching the technical and strategic aspects of the game. His commitment to helping student-athletes grow as golfers and competitors has made Mesa Community College a respected name in junior college golf.
