WOMEN'S GOLF TAKES SECOND AT MCC INVITATIONAL
Mesa Community College Women's Golf turned in a solid performance on its home course, finishing second overall at the MCC Invitational held at Dobson Ranch Golf Course.
The Thunderbirds posted a two-round total of +95 (339-332), finishing behind South Mountain (+70) and ahead of Paradise Valley (+224) in a three-team field.
Mesa opened the tournament with a +51 (339) in round one, led by Abree Germaine, who paced the lineup with an 80 (+8). Elina Beyer followed closely with an 82 (+10), while Annalise Kooner added an 84 (+12) to round out the top scores for the Thunderbirds.
In the final round, Mesa improved with a +44 (332), showing consistency across the lineup. Germaine again led the way with a 75 (+3), shaving five strokes off her opening round. Beyer followed with a 77 (+5), while Kooner carded an 85 (+13).
Germaine finished as Mesa's top individual, placing second overall at +11 (80-75). Beyer also secured a top-three finish at +15 (82-77), giving the Thunderbirds two players near the top of the leaderboard.
