WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES 8TH AT SMSU SPRING INVITE
Mesa Community College Women's Golf placed 8th overall at the SMSU Spring Invite, finishing with a two-round score of 665 (+89) against a field primarily made up of NCAA Division II programs.
The Thunderbirds improved in the final round, posting scores of 337 in Round 1 and 328 in Round 2 during the tournament hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University.
Sara Sawyer led the way for Mesa, finishing T-10 individually with a 155 (+11) after rounds of 74 and 81. Sawyer's opening round 74 was one of the stronger scores of the tournament and kept her inside the top ten of the leaderboard.
Abree Germaine placed T-32, carding rounds of 81 and 82 to finish at 163 (+19).
Elina Beyer delivered Mesa's biggest improvement between rounds, following an 85 in Round 1 with an 80 in Round 2 to place T-37 at 165 (+21).
Annalise Kooner rounded out the Thunderbird scorers, finishing T-63 with rounds of 97 and 85 for a 182 (+38) total.
Mesa will look to build on its strong second-round performance as the Thunderbirds continue their spring schedule at Dobosn Ranch GC in the MCC Invitational on March 16-17.
