WOMEN'S BASKETBALL REACH ANOTHER MILESTONE UNDER STEPHENSON

Saturday's victory added another chapter to an already historic era for Mesa Community College Women's Basketball, securing the program's 15th 20 win season under Head Coach Kori Stephenson.

Since taking the helm, Stephenson has built the Thunderbirds into one of the premier programs in NJCAA Division II, defined by consistency, postseason success, and national prominence. The latest milestone underscores a standard that has become synonymous with Mesa women's basketball, competing for championships year after year.

Under Stephenson's leadership, the T-Birds have captured eight NJCAA Region I Division II Championships, establishing a dominant presence within the conference and securing repeated trips to the national stage.

That success has translated nationally as well. Mesa claimed the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship during Stephenson's tenure, while also earning a national runner-up finish, a third-place finish, a fourth-place finish, and a fifth-place finish — a résumé that reflects sustained excellence against the top programs in the country.

The ability to consistently produce 20 win seasons while navigating one of the nation's most competitive regions highlights the culture built inside the program, one centered on defense, discipline, and player development.

As the T-Birds push deeper into postseason play this season, Saturday's milestone serves as both a celebration of past accomplishments and a reminder that the Stephenson era continues to set the bar for success at Mesa Community College.
