No. 11 Mesa Community College Women's Basketball delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance on Saturday, cruising to an 86–19 win over South Mountain Community College at home.
Mesa jumped out to a commanding 24–0 lead after the first quarter and never let up, holding South Mountain scoreless for the opening 12-plus minutes of game action. The Thunderbirds led 44–9 at halftime and continued to apply pressure on both ends, outscoring the Cougars 26–3 in the third quarter to put the game away.
The Thunderbirds finished the afternoon shooting 50.6% from the field and controlled every major statistical category, including a 60–6 advantage in points in the paint and a 38–3 edge in points off turnovers. Mesa also scored 40 bench points and forced 29 turnovers while committing just 10 of its own.
Lakeisha Robinson led all scorers with 18 points off the bench, while Carmella Gallardo posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists. Meisha Caserio added 11 points, and Dizhoon White chipped in 10 as four Thunderbirds reached double figures.
With the win, Mesa improved to 12–3 overall (6-0 ACCAC) maintaining their hold on first place in the conference standings.
The T-Birds are back in action on Saturday at home as they host Chandler-Gilbert.
