No. 9 Women's Basketball takes on No. 7 Lake Land College on Friday

No. 9 Mesa Women's Basketball takes on No. 7 Lake Land College in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball 5th Place Consolation bracket on Friday.

The Lady T-Bird were sent to the consolation bracket after falling to No. 1 Kirkwood on Thursday, 74-59. Mesa's shooting slump spelled doom for their National Championship hopes as they shot 21-77 (27.3%) from the field.

No. 7 Lake Land College finds themselves in the consolation bracket after falling to No. 2 CCBC Essex, 99-76.

This will be the second matchup between the Lakers and T-Birds this season as they met in the 3rd place game of the Thumb Coast Tip-Off in Port Huron, MI back in Nov. 16. In the contest Mesa fell 57-51 after a slow first half where they scored just 14 points. Kamiyah Hurd led MCC off the bench with 12 points, Amya Bekele had 11, and Britany Kogbara scored 10 and grabbed nine rebounds. 

The winner will take on the winner of No. 5 Union and No. 3 Lincoln Land for 5th place on Saturday.

The game will begin at 3:00 p.m. CT / 1:00 p.m. MST and can be watched on the NJCAA Network.
