Mesa Scores a 49-46 Victory Over Visiting Snow College Friday Night

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team defeated the Snow College Badgers Friday night, 49-46, at Theo Heap Gym.

Solid showings in the third and fourth quarter propelled the lady T-Birds to its fifth win of the season, a win also against a DI opponent which have been hard to come by this year.

Mesa freshman Jacey Salabiye lead all scorers on the night with 17 points, connecting on 50 percent (7-14) of her shots.  Overall on the night, the T-Birds shot 31.5 percent (17-54) while making 10-14 free-throws (71.4%).

The T-Birds went down by nine with 4:11 to play in the second quarter but they were able to cut the deficit to three heading into halftime.  The T-Birds didn't take a lead until the 4:49 mark of the third quarter when Iris Domebo connected on a three-pointer to make it a 31-30 game.

Mesa moves its overall record to 5-8.  The lady T-Birds won't be back in action til the Bill Culver Classic at Scottsdale Community College, which begins Friday, December 28th.
