Tucson, AZ- The Pima Aztecs defeated the Mesa Thunderbirds in the ACCAC DII Championship game in Tucson, AZ Saturday night, 78-54.
With a packed house, Mesa landed the first punches and kept the Pima Aztecs from from making their shots.
Briana Clah finished the first half with nine points but it was the last five minutes of the 2nd quarter that Pima used to take advantage of the small Mesa lineup, excuting their offense and making seemingly every shot they took.
Pima had a 10 point lead at halftime, 34-24. The first three possessions of the second half did the Thunderbirds in for good, as Pima scored 8 points, six of which came of three pointers. Mesa just couldn't overcome such a big deficit with such a small lineup.
The T-Birds finish the season with a 16-16 record.
