Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team defeated the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters in game one, 8-2, then took the loss in game two, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon at MCC.
It was Ieleen Guardado we smashed a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning of game one that set the tone for the T-Birds. Another homer in the fourth inning by Alyssa Matus began another four run inning for Mesa as two singles and a triple later by Alexis Cirerol saw the T-Birds in complete control.
Jadin Placencio pitched another solid game for Mesa, going seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned, moving her record to 6-0 on the season.
The T-Birds will play again at home this Saturday against the Paradise Valley Pumas, first pitch at noon.
