MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY SETS NEW PERSONAL BESTS AL SHIRLEY INVITATIONAL

No. 4 Mesa Men's Cross Country turned in a strong showing at the Al Shirley Invitational, finishing fourth overall with 75 points. The Thunderbirds showcased impressive depth and speed, as all eight runners set new personal bests in the 5k race.
Sophomore Cal Schnepf came in 6th (15:23) and led the way for Mesa, followed by sophomore Alex Lopez who finished 13th (15:37). Freshman Brady Moar took 20th (15:48), freshman Dean Haller crossed 21st (15:53), and freshman Edgar Molera-Madril finished 22nd (15:58) rounded out the scoring group, giving Mesa five runners under the 16-minute mark.
Additional strong performances came from freshman Caleb Faba who came in 27th (16:11), sophomore Benett Kaup finished 30th (16:16), and freshman Deng Majak took 35th (16:36).
Head coach Daniel Pescador praised the team's progress and execution:
"The men had a great day stepping down to an off distance of 5k. All eight men ran and set personal bests! I am proud of their effort and how they raced today. It was great to see five guys under 16 minutes. It's a great setup for us as we move back to 8ks and get closer to the national championships," said Pescador.
The T-Birds will be back in action on Oct. 18 as they compete in the Highlander Invite.
