MICKELSON SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN POLE VAULT AT REGION I CHAMPIONSHIPS

Michael Mickelson delivered a record-breaking and championship performance in the pole vault at the NJCAA Region I Track & Field Championships, etching his name into the Mesa Community College record book.

Mickelson cleared 5.16 meters to set a new Mesa outdoor school record, surpassing the previous mark of 5.10 meters (16' 8 3/4") set by Robbie Haynie (2010) and Pau Tonnesen (2013).

Along with the record, Mickelson claimed the Region I title in the event, leading the field with his top clearance and securing the championship for the Thunderbirds.

The mark stands as one of the top performances in the region this season and positions Mickelson among the top vaulters heading into the postseason.
