Mesa Community College Men's Soccer earned its first conference victory of the season with a 3–1 road win over Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday night. The win improves the Thunderbirds' record to 2-0-1 overall (1-0-1 ACCAC).
The T-Birds struck first in the 18th minute when Diego Romo scored off an assist from Brody Donovan. Mesa doubled its advantage before halftime as Luke Nobili finished a feed from Elliott Katz in the 40th minute to take a 2–0 lead into the break.
Chandler-Gilbert cut the deficit to 2–1 early in the second half, but Mesa quickly regained control. In the 64th minute, Blake Rekuc delivered the insurance goal off a setup from Zachary Lanman, sealing the 3–1 victory.
Mesa outshot CGCC 13–4, holding the Coyotes to just one first-half attempt. Goalkeeper Cole Wise collected three saves in net, anchoring a back line that controlled the pace for much of the match.
The Thunderbirds now turn their attention to Saturday, when they return home to John D. Riggs Stadium for an ACCAC matchup against Gateway Community College.
