Mesa Community College men's soccer battled to a 1–1 draw with Paradise Valley on Saturday night at John D. Riggs Stadium, moving their record to 1-0-1 overall (0-0-1 ACCAC).
The Thunderbirds opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Blaise Mboneza finished a setup from Elliott Katz, giving Mesa the early lead. MCC carried that 1–0 advantage into halftime behind an organized defensive effort and key saves from goalkeeper Cole Wise.
Paradise Valley leveled the match in the 52nd minute, and despite strong chances from both sides over the final 30 minutes, neither team could find the go-ahead goal.
Mesa matched the visitors in the stat sheet with 24 total shots (10 on goal), while Wise collected eight saves to secure the draw. The Thunderbirds also held an 8–4 advantage in corner kicks, generating consistent pressure in the attacking third.
MCC now shifts their attention to their first road contest of the season against Scottsdale.
