T-Bird Men's golf gets taste of four year competition at Embry Riddle Invite

The Mesa Men's golf team shot a 54 hole total of 894 at the Embry Riddle Fall Invite in Prescott, AZ to finish 5th in the five team field. 

MCC was the only JUCO team in the competition and were 3 shots back in 3rd place going into the final round. Mesa was in 2nd place going into the back nine in the final round and faltered late. 

Leading the way was freshman Tanner Thompson (8th), who shot 70-73 at the Antelope Hills North Course in rounds 1 and 2 and shot 77 in round 3 at Capital Canyon Club to finish with a 54-hole total of 220 for the event. It was Thompson's second top 10 finish this fall. Fellow freshman Nathan Giles fired 77-72-72 to finish 11th. Luke Stephens who led the T-Birds at the PV Invite last week fired a 76-70-76 (222) and finished 13th.

"We play, we learn, we grow," said head coach John Guerrero, "we will study our stats and make adjustments. Looking forward to playing well at our home event in three weeks."

Mesa hosts the final fall season event Nov 5-6 at Dobson Ranch GC.
