Men's golf slips on second day of Estrella Mountain Invitational, places second

  Litchfield Park, AZ – After firing a season-best 279 in the first round of the Estralla Mountain Invitational Tuesday, the Mesa men's golf team slipped to 290 Wednesday at the Wigwam G.C. and placed second to South Mountain.

  MCC's 279-290—569 was its best tournament score of the year, but fell short of South Mountain's 278-280—558. Eastern Arizona placed third at 286-286—572 and Chandler-Gilbert was fourth with a 285-290—575.

  The T-Birds were led by Dayton Federley whose 70-71—141 tied for fifth individually. Dean Harpe was 13th at 70-73—143 and Austin Hardman and Gage Grimes tied for 14th place. Hardman shot a 72-72—144 and Grimes carded a 70-74—144.

  Mesa's next event will be its 14th-annual meeting with Wabash at the Dobson Ranch G.C. Thursday.
