Mesa, AZ - A back and forth game saw the Mesa Thunderbirds down by two with one second remaining on the clock. Entering the ball in, in front of his own bench, Cam Burist passed, stepped back in, got the pass back and drained a three to give Mesa a one point victory, 63-62, over visiting Pima.
Pima couldn't seem to miss in the first half, especially from three, as the Aztecs took a commanding double-digit lead. Mesa however didn't break, as they battled back to tie the game at 30 by halftime.
The seasaw battle continued in the second half as it was Mesa's turn to take a commanding lead but Pima would succomb to the big lead as they then battled back. There were eight lead changes throughout the game, five came in the final few minutes of the game.
The T-Birds are now 10-5 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. Mesa will be on the road the next three games as they travel to Eastern Arizona College, Scottsdale and Chandler-Gilbert and won't play at home till Saturday, January 18th vs South Mountain.
