Ushering in his fourth season as the Thunderbirds head coach, Ryan Felker has established a program that is one of the best in the country.

The 2014 season saw many highs for the T-Birds as they finished with a 5-5 record.  Felker has a 19-11(.633) record here at Mesa and was named the 2012 ACCAC Co-Coach of the Year.  It all comes after Mesa suffered through four seasons with a total of just seven wins prior to Felker's arrival.

Felker has coached his team in the Valley of the Sun Bowl and Heart of Texas Bowl two of the last three seasons and his team ranking has reached as high as No. 6 in the nation in the weekly NJCAA national poll.

In his four seasons at MCC, Felker has already produced three All-Americans. Damarious Randall earned the honor in 2012 before moving on to Arizona State where he immediately stepped in as starting free safety on the Sun Devils' Holiday Bowl team. Damarious was then drafted in the 2015 first round to the Green Bay Packers with the 30th overall pick.  In 2013, wide receiver Cody Saul was chosen first team All-America and offensive lineman Cory Clements second team.  Felker has helped over 75 of his T-Bird players move on to play football at the next level.

Already numerous MCC players from the current squad have received NCAA Division I offers and many others will be moving on with scholarships at all levels.

Before joining Mesa, Felker most recently coached at nearby Scottsdale Community College, holding the positions of defensive coordinator in 2011 and defensive backs coach, as well as recruiting coordinator, in 2010.

Previously he served at Eastern Arizona College for two years as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. He also recruited Arizona for the Gila Monsters.

In 2009 his EAC defense finished second in the nation statistically. One cornerback, Prince Ryans, earned All-America, All-Region and All-Conference honors and was the Western States Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

In 2008 both of his starting cornerbacks received all-WSFL recognition with one, Jamaine Olson, receiving a full scholarship at Utah State.

Prior to his collegiate experience Felker was a high school coach for nine years, the last six as a head coach.

He frequently speaks at clinics and works off-season football camps for major universities.

Throughout his career Felker has built many valuable relationships with coaches at every level. Recruiting and strong Arizona ties are Felker’s strengths.

Felker is a graduate of Arizona State and has a Masters’ Degree in Technology from Northern Arizona. He, and his wife Regina, have two children, Brett, 15 and Chloe, 13.
